As I have been doing with the big blockbusters recently, here is a special Thursday version of Movie Monday. Spoiler-free impressions of The Last Jedi follow (and I'll be back on Monday with spoiler-filled impressions).
The Last Jedi is a very different movie than previous Star Wars films, tonally speaking, with a much more brazen relationship with humor in the film. I can easily see this being a divisive film and even in my own viewing, I took issue with certain pacing elements that didn't work and a lot of the attempts at humor fell flat. But there are also some of the franchises' best visuals, genuinely heroic and breathtaking moments, and some incredible payoffs to 40 years of storytelling.
