Borderlands Movie Finds Its Writer

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aaron Berg has signed on to write the Borderlands film for Lionsgate. Berg has also been previously been connected to the script for G.I. Joe 3.

Based on the Gearbox Software franchise, Borderlands will be produced by Avi Arad and his son Ari Arad, of Marvel Studios fame. The franchise has sold over 26 million copies throughout its three main series titles and produced a Telltale spinoff. It is still unclear if the film will serve as a retelling of any particular game or instead expand upon the lore of the established Borderlands universe. The report indicates it may “be an edgy, R-rated take on the material.”

Arad Productions are also attached to the in-development Uncharted film.

No release date has been set for Borderlands. During a PAX East panel, Randy Pitchford suggested that Borderlands 3 Easter eggs may appear within Battleborn DLC.
