I kicked off 2018 playing one of the most lauded games of 2017 that I just never got around to: Nier: Automata. I wrapped up my first ending the other day (well, technically second since I accidentally stumbled into faux-ending H at one point), and started my next playthrough. So far, I haven't had the "AHA!" moment people seemed to be raving about. I'm enjoying in fine enough, though I don't really know what any of the equipment/gear is really doing for me as I find myself mostly just button-mashing. But if I hadn't heard such acclaim about how the game really subverts expectations later in the game, I don't know that I'd really feel all that invested in continuing the story. Here's hoping it wins me over.
