Back in the Doghouse

Uncharted 4 launched today and I've spent the better part of the last 7 hours playing it since getting home from work. And boy does it feel good to be in the hands of Naughty Dog again. I'm just about to start Chapter 10 in the game but realized I needed to sit down and get today's bit of writing done before I forget.

The game is absolutely gorgeous. I remember about six months ago when people were comparing and contrasting Rise of the Tomb Raider with the Uncharted games. I even wrote a piece arguing that it felt odd to compare the two given the different types of games at their core. But there was no denying that Rise of the Tomb Raider was one of the most visually stunning games I had ever laid eyes on. And now Uncharted 4 has come and responded in kind.

Nine chapters in and I've already been through several beautiful vistas. And the level design is astonishing in that it has coupled some vast expanses with enough clues to give players all the details they need in order to know which way to go.

Right now, I'm just doing an initial play through to enjoy the story and gameplay without worrying too much to look for all of the miscellaneous treasures and other collectibles. But even so, I'm enjoying the beauty of the world so much that I'm gladly travelling off the beaten path just to explore this world in all its glory.

So if you'll excuse me, I must be getting back to it...
