On September 23, 2015, I, alongside many others, rushed into the Loot Crate Vault to try and nab one of the Limited Edition Fallout-themed Loot Crates. After multiple attempts receiving errors on their page despite my credit card showing the pending charge, I thought "oh crap, I only wanted the one. I hope I didn't just get charged six or seven times." So I opened a help ticket to try and find out A) if I actually managed to nab one and B) if all of the additional charges could be reversed.
A few hours later, Loot Crate sent a follow-up email apologizing that their servers weren't better prepared and announcing that they had indeed sold out. Eventually, I received a similar email from the support desk, apologizing for the multiple charges that they would correct and notifying me that they were sold out. Alongside all of this, I reached out on Facebook to a buddy of mine from college who I know works at Loot Crate explaining my situation and telling him to pass along for me that I knew his team and co-workers were swamped but to thank them for the product, regardless of whether or not I would eventually nab one.
Two days later, I received an email confirmation that I did have a crate on order and I needed to log in and provide my hoodie size. I don't know if it was just a really delayed confirmation or if somebody who saw the message I left on my friend's wall pulled some strings but I was all set.
Fast forward to today, when the crate was waiting for me when I got home from work. I was not the least bit disappointed! It's almost here! Scroll down for the breakdown of my loot.
Vault 111 Hoodie: What perfect timing?! Phoenix just decided to start getting abnormally cold (i.e. highs in the 70s this week).
Vault 111 Messenger Bag: My old NES Controller Messenger Bag has seen better days so this will serve as an excellent replacement.
Brotherhood of Steel Flag: Holy crap this is a big flag.It pretty much covers the entirety of this 6-foot bookshelf. Bonus: our cat Harper seems intrigued by it. This'll go great in my office alongside...
Fallout 4 Collector Posters: Some beautiful concept art of the Power Armor and work garage and a Nuka Cola ad.
Fallout 4 Coaster Set: I'm damn sure going to get some Nuka Cola Quantum to go along with these babies.
Fallout 4 Collector Pin Set: It wouldn't be a proper Loot Crate without some pins. These will probably find a comfortable home on that new Messenger Bag.
Dogmeat Plush: Last but not least, a stuffed Dogmeat (that my girlfriend will undoubtedly claim as her own as soon as she gets home.
